Introduction
This is the fourth entry for the famous “Bourne” franchise. This time, the main protagonist is not Jason Bourne anymore. The main character this time is Agent Cross which is played by Jeremy Renner. The story of this film takes place at the same time parallel to the climax during Bourne Ultimatum (third film). Still remember of Jason Bourne's dismemberment of Operation Blackbriar? Yup. This movie takes place at the same time whereby the CIA decides to dispose of their other black ops programs. They are trying to eliminate their filed agents which include Agent Cross.
What will Agent Cross do to escape from such fate?

Review:
“The Bourne Legacy” is the fourth instalment
in “Bourne” Franchise. This time, there is no more Matt Damon who was the Face of recognition for the previous
three episodes. But it is replaced by Jeremy Renner who is an actor with a lot
of potential now. Well, honestly, there is no deny. Jeremy Renner has done a
great job in this movie. However, this movie has a lot of flaws despite of
Jeremy Renner’s good acting.
Firstly,
the first 15-20 minutes of the movie is REALLY
BORING and DULL. It is quite
confusing as well. So, I nearly fell asleep. At that point, I felt that this
movie is a total letdown.
However,
the movie eventually returns to the right track and delivers some memorable
scenes which finally woke me up. One of the scene which I like the most is the
“Murder Suicide in The Lab” scene. That scene is really quite shocking.
Other
than the first 15-20 minutes, the movie is actually not bad as it is filled
with more suspense and actions then. The action scenes in this movie are
actually quite nice. But the amount of action is not that much. Personally, I think the first 15-20 minutes
of introduction is totally unnecessary.
Anyway,
despite the long introduction, I personally do not think the director has done
a great job in introducing the character of Agent Cross. In addition, the abusive use of “Jason Bourne” name and some terms known in the previous episodes
are not welcoming for the newcomers of the series. At most times , too many
terms are used and have caused the audience who are not familiar with this
franchise to lose track in this film although this film has an independent
story of its own.
I like the settings in this film though because it
takes place in a lot of different places such as cold mountain, Manila in Philippines
and etc. The variety of setting is actually quite pleasant!
The plot in this movie is actually quite direct but
the poor attempt to twist the story has made it confusing instead of
interesting. Last but not least, the
ending of the movie is quite abrupt and it makes me have such feeling, “Huh?
The movie ended already?”
This movie is passable but not up to my expectation.
What
I like about the movie:
- Some shocking suspense and memorable scenes
- James Bond Style of Actions
- Variety of settings in this scene
What
I dislike about the movie:
- Lousy and Draggy Introduction
- Abusive use of “Jason
Bourne” name just to link us with the universe in third instalment
- Abrupt
Ending
Verdict:
Overall, it is an okay movie which has a sufficient amount of suspense and a few nice action scenes.

It is
a fun movie as long as you can survive the introduction of the movie! Be
patient, then you can enjoy it!
However,
there is a high possibility that you might end up in frustration too if you
lost track of what’s going on in this movie!
