Fortune Buddies 劲抽福禄寿 Review

Fortune Buddies 劲抽福禄寿 Review

This is a movie riding on the success of Liza and the Three Gods 荃加福祿壽, produced by TVB.
The Three Main Characters in this movie is none other than the three funny guys from 荃加福祿壽, namely Wong Cho Lam, Louis Yuen and Johnson Lee.

In this movie, Cho Lam plays as Fiona Sit's boyfriend. Fiona Sit's father played by veteran Eric Tsang is a materialistic guy. He insisted that Cho Lam must earn five hundred thousand dollars within half a year if Cho Lam wanted to marry Fiona.

On the other hand, Louis Yuen plays as a father of a son. The son's mother is Fala Chen who is a Mafia Boss. His son has never been proud of his father and his wife left him because he is a heavy gambler.

Johnson Lee claimed himself as the second generation of a tycoon in Hong Kong. He is in love with a model played by Samantha Ko.

The whole story is about how these three funny character try their best to raise more money for each of their own targets. They have tried a lot of jobs such as being part-time actor, crossdressing on the street and etc. Eventually they have been discovered and requested to join a wrestling competition after they have "defeated" a Professional Wrestling on the street.
The story then proceed to the climax after this.

What I like about the movie:
1) Has a similar feel of recent TVB Movies, "72 Tenants Of Prosperity" and "I love Hong Kong"
2) Quite a number of cameo appearance. (Most notable one is Laughing Gor,Michael Tse)
3) Some laughable gags, especially the last part about the technique they use for fighting the professional wrestlers.
4) The three characters are quite talented. (especially the part where Johnson Lee imitates other people)

What I dislike about the movie:
1) The plot is mediocre.
2) Some scenes are quite lame and boring.
3) The bonus scenes when the credits roll out is hard to be understood and hard to be laughed of.
(I am not sure about others. My friends said maybe those scenes can be humorous to Hong Kong audience but I am really not sure about that.)

Conclusion
Despite of having an average plot, the movie is still quite entertaining for people who just want to get a laugh in the cinema. Honestly, this movie is not as nice as "72 tenants of prosperity" and "I love Hong Kong", but still, it's a good attempt to draw a smile onto the audience's face.

However, some of the scenes may be a little bit lame and boring. Some may find it hard to laugh at some of the points in the movie.

Final advice,if you want to enjoy this movie, you must be more open-minded in accepting the comedic laughing scenes in this movie. But personally, I did enjoyed the show! :-)
